Wild herbs, herbs (oregano, thyme etc.) and medicinal herbs (Dittany) are indigenous. Crete is the most northern point of the world, where African trees as cedar and palms prosper.

There also are some animals, indigenous only on Crete such as the KriKri a so-called wild goat and the Cretan tree frog as well as birds of prey such as special species of falcons.
In western Crete some beaches protect Caretta-Caretta (big sea turtle) during oviposition.
In our vicinity there are some sights that can be reached by walking.
